Overview

Windows Both frames and glass are manufactured in a state of the art production facility, designed to maximise output and minimise material and energy waste, whilst maintaining the highest level of quality possible.

Our entire manufacturing process is regularly inspected by independent assessors to ensure that we maintain the highest production standards and that your frames are manufactured correctly under our quality management system, BS EN ISO9001:2000.

Aesthetics

Many PVCu windows use an external black rubber gasket to hold the glass in place, which as well as shrinking over time, also looks unsightly. Our frames use low sightline gaskets that are extruded from the plastic, so not only do you not get the unsightly thick black lines around the glass, they will also never shrink.

All our frames are 70mm in width, this means that when your old windows are removed they are more likely to cover up any unsightly paint lines, some other window systems do not cover these paint lines.

Thermal efficiency

Using the latest PVC and glass technology we are able to provide you with a window with a high energy rating which means that unlike older single glazed windows and even the majority of double glazed units, you will benefit from a warm home with lower heating bills. We are able to offer you a variety of energy efficient solutions and you should ask your consultant to explain the benefits associated with the different energy rated windows.

Security

The majority of wooden, aluminium and plastic windows already installed do not benefit from the latest high security features that we offer, such as internal beads to prevent the glass being removed from the outside, espagnolette shootbolt locking to prevent the sashes being prised open and the option for laminated glass and locking handles.

Tilt and Turn

Tilt and Turn Windows A window system specifically designed to maximise the glazing area, enabling larger than normal apertures which aid cleaning as they can be fully opened inwards. As well as this practical feature, tilt and turn windows can provide excellent backgound ventilation when located in the tilt position.

All of our tilt and turn are fitted with security wrap around gearing which ensures that there are multiple locking points on more than one side, these locate into specially designed keeps, which not only improve the security of the window, but also aid compression and help draught proof the windows.

Many customers choose to use this type of window in conservatories as the glazing area can be maximised to give clear unobstructed views without the need for transom bars.

Tilt and turn windows are also ideal for creating an extra egress point to the upstairs of properties, giving you a clear and easy escape route in the event of a fire.

Vertical Slider

Vertical Sliders Windows Many houses in Britain still retain the original wooden sliding box sash windows and for those customers who are trying to maintain the traditional appearance of their homes, we are able to offer a PVCu vertical sliding window which although it looks similar, will out-perform the older traditional box sash windows.

Aesthetics

An authentic appearance, which is enhanced by decorative horns, reflects the elegant looks of the original window, whilst incorporating high levels of performance and durability.

Peace of Mind

Anyone with original sash windows will at some point have experienced difficulties opening and closing them as years of painting and the natural ageing process of the wood causes the sashes to bind against the frames. The modern day PVCu sliding windows will not warp or twist, do not need painting and with just a small amount of care will give you years of smooth and reliable use.

The modern sliding windows also replace the troublesome cords and traditional weights and also have the option of tilt restrictors which enable the sashes to tilt inwards for ease of cleaning.

Painted Frames

Painted Windows For some the limited choice of white, rosewood and sherwood coloured PVCu windows has caused problems, as they have tried to upgrade the windows and doors to comply with the latest building regulations and improve the thermal performance whilst still retaining the character of their properties.

In order to satisfy this part of the market, we are able to now offer our frames in a range of over 200 RAL colours and if these are not enough, we are even able to match a sample you provide us with.

The frames are manufactured in the same way, but prior to being assembled, the welded outer frames and sashes are cleaned and sprayed using the RAL colour of your choice. Once the required amount of coats have been applied, the frames are baked at 50 degrees for up to three hours before being allowed to cure for 5 days. Once we are happy that the colour has stabilised and that the profile has passed a series of quality checks to ensure that it has bonded correctly, we assemble the frames and they are installed in the same way as our standard frames.

Due to the flexibility of the process we are able to spray windows, doors, panels, vertical sliders and even full conservatories.

Due to the controlled process, we are able to guarantee the coloured profile for up to ten years.

Windows Energy Ratings

Energy saving technology that won't cost the earth

 Windows Energy Ratings

U-Values

For years assessment of the energy efficiency of a window has been based on the U-value - a window with a lower U-value loses less energy through heat loss. however, U-values do not take into consideration solar gain or air leakage.

WERS

The Window Energy Ratings were developed by the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC). The main benefit for consumers is that it allows them to compare the energy efficiency of different products with ease. It uses the already recognisable format of the A to G scale found on white goods (fridges, washing machines, etc).

The ratings assesses the energy performance of the whole window, including the frame material, the frame design, the glass type and all other components. Ultimately, this means that the ratings take into account the heat loss (U-value), the air leakage (L-factor) and the solar gain (G-value), to give a truer picture than the U-value alone.

See www.bfrc.org for more information.

Windows achieving a BFRC window energy rating of C and above can be endorsed under the Energy Saving Trust's Energy Saving Recommended scheme.

The 'energy saving recommended' logo assures customers that the products in question are energy efficient and is an easily recognisable sign that they have met certain criteria.

Helping our customers

Up to 30% of a house's heat is lost through its windows. Energy efficient windows can reduce this by a staggering 94%, helping our customer to save energy and money on their heating bills!

Because energy efficient windows have a warmer internal pane they can cut condensation by up to 70%, virtually elimiating the breeding ground for mould and bacteria which can be harmful to asthma sufferers. They also make a home more comfortable at all times of the year.

Helping you

As consumer awareness of the WERs grows, customers are increasingly starting to ask for energy efficient windows. Select Window Systems are one step ahead of our competition by supplying this value added product right now.

It is important for both consumers and companies to be seen to be green, and energy efficient windows can help everyone to reduce their carbon footprint. Consumer demand for green products is growing.
